North Texas Municipal Clerks Association

The North Texas Municipal Clerks Association (NTMCA) is comprised of more than 100 dedicated professionals who work for a municipality in North Texas. 

NTMCA is a Chapter of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association, Inc. (TMCA).  We provide an excellent networking opportunity for both the novice and experienced municipal clerk.

Our organization is not limited to municipal clerks.  Our membership includes professionals that work with records management, human resources, municipal court, legislative issues, building operations and the city manager's office.

What We Do

The responsibilities of the municipal clerk's office varies for each municipality.  The duties are established by state law for general law cities and city charter for home-rule municipalities. In addition to assigned duties, a city clerk must stay abreast of new legislation to ensure compliance for their municipality related to elections, record retention, open meetings act and the public information act.   

A sample of responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:

• conducting elections
• preparing and maintaining the official record of ordinances and resolutions, adopted by the Council, and preserves and records Council minutes
• designated Records Manager
• ensuring compliance with open meetings act and public information act
• maintaining municipalities approved legislation
• custodian of the Corporate Seal of the City
• appointments and memberships to City's boards, commissions and committees
• inquiries and research requests from citizens and other municipal departments
• provides staff support to the Mayor and Council
• managing the City's Code

Your membership in NTMCA will provide you an excellent opportunity to network with a group of professionals who have experience in the many facets and responsibilities of a town/city clerk's office. 

Cost for annual (October 1 through September 30) membership is $30.00 per person. 

We aim to:

• provide a forum among members that results in a free exchange of ideas about work related issues;
• enhance professionalism by developing effectiveness and efficiency in public service leading to increased goodwill for the organization; and
• support our members by providing opportunities for skill development
